Creating with Stamps 101- Deciding the Card Base Colors

This morning I wanted to show how I am making this Christmas card for my mother-in-law. I have decided to use my Snowfall Stamp set and the Wintergreen designer paper. This paper is double side so I had to choose which two I like best for this card. The next step was to match the paper with Sage Shadow (Cool color) card stock and Whisper White (Neutral color.)My next step was to decide how to layer the colors together so they have the look I want. Everyone has different tastes so pick the one you like best. I used a standard A2 card in a tent fold (4 1/4" x 11", scored and folded.) I also cut sage shadow and whisper white paper into 4 " x 5 1/4" pieces. I cut the Wintergreen DP into 3 3/4" x 4 piece. I also cut 2 pieces of card stock into I then layered them down and tried different combinations which are pictured above.I choose the last combination. To sum up my card questions I use to start a card:

1) Who? My sweet mother-in-law
2) What occasion? Christmas
3) What Stamp set I want to use? Snowfall
4) What color? I choose Wintergreen DP and the colors that match Sage Shadow, Whisper White and Silver.
5) What proportion of the colors I will use? 60% Sage Shadow, 40% Whisper White and 10% Silver.

Now I have a great start for my card and I will choose accessories to match with this color scheme. I found using this method I am able to get my card off without a stumbling into a block of what to pick. Before I started doing this I would waste so much time and have a big mess to clean up because I took a lot of my stash out. and I also had no room to work because of this mess. I also hate cleaning up the mess so I procrastinated making cards. Now I can do a little prep work and be done in no time flat. I will post the completed card later today.

Enjoy,

Vivian Swain
